The Three Pillars of a PM Interview
Product Sense
Can you think like a user? Design an app, improve a product, or diagnose a metric drop. Shows user empathy and structured thinking.
Analytical
Size a market, define success metrics, design an A/B test. Shows you are data-driven and can make decisions from numbers.
Leadership
Stakeholder management, prioritization under constraints, cross-functional influence. Shows you can actually ship.
Product Sense Framework
When asked "How would you improve X?" follow this structure:
→1. Clarify the goal and scope — which users? which market?
→2. Define user segments — who uses this product and why?
→3. Identify pain points — what are users struggling with?
→4. Prioritize — pick one user segment and one pain point to focus on
→5. Propose solutions — 2–3 specific features with trade-offs
→6. Define success — what metrics would tell you if it worked?
Metrics Framework
For "a metric dropped 20% — what do you do?":
→Sanity check: is the data real? Are there tracking issues?
→Segment: which platform, region, user cohort, or feature changed?
→Correlate: did anything change in the product, marketing, or external environment?
→Hypothesize: form 2–3 hypotheses and test each
→Recommend: propose a fix and define how you would verify it
